In the wild guinea pigs feed on the poor quality dried grasses and domestic guinea pigs love to tuck into some grass too. Timothy is an ideal grass to feed as it is nutritionally correct for feeding to guineas and has the added bonus of being a tall growing grass which guineas love to tunnel through. Tunneling is something that they would do in their natural habitat, the long grasses provide cover and make them feel safe. We do not however suggest that Planet Guinea Timothy should be your only security measure !

Planet Guinea Timothy is selected for its Leafy qualities therefore making it more appealing to guinea pigs. Sow in season one, (Autumn or Spring), Autumn (September) is ideal if a patch hasn't been previously prepared as the weeds should be at the slowest point of their growing rate. Harvest with scissors in season two (following Spring/Autumn), give the roots time to establish before attempting to pick the grass by hand. Similarly placing grazing runs over Timothy in its first harvesting season is not such a good idea until roots are established.
